Tulsa Back on the Field Friday; Fan Fest is Saturday Morning

The Tulsa football team was back on the grass of Harwell Field in the morning as the Golden Hurricane had its first of two practices on Friday. On Saturday, Fan Fest and a team scrimmage is scheduled for the Hurricane, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Tulsa Head Coach Philip Montgomery, again, was pleased with the way the Hurricane came back Friday morning following an off day on Thursday.

"I thought our energy level was good towards the end of practice," said Montgomery. "I was a little worried when we first came out. I thought we'd need to prod along a little bit, maybe because of the weather, but our guys really picked it up and I thought we had a great practice."

Tulsa spent the afternoon practice session working on its' special teams at H.A. Chapman Stadium.

"The special teams aspect gets overlooked so much," said Montgomery. "For us, we have to also be great on special teams. This gives us a specific time to focus and lock-in on special teams. Special teams can change the course of a game in a hurry – you can flip the field, create turnovers or have a little trick here and there, so for us we have to spend time and focus in."

Fan Fest is free and open to the public. Fan Fest offers fans the opportunity to get their first glimpse of the 2016 Tulsa Football team during an open scrimmage. The Hurricane team will be available for autographs following practice.

The event will be the first chance for fans to get their 2016 Vote Tulsa Football Campaign Poster as well as other collateral. Fans can sign their kids (12 and under) up for the Captain 'Cane Kids Club, which gets them a free t-shirt and free admission to a football game, select basketball games, and season passes to Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Soccer, and Softball. Fans can register to win numerous prizes including tickets to a game, a signed Coach Montgomery football and new adidas gear.
