Tulsa Football Goes Through Second Practice Friday

The Tulsa football team was back on Harwell Field for a 125-minute practice session in shorts and helmets Friday morning as the temperature reached a high of 92 degrees before the squad cleared the field.
"I thought our energy was really good and honestly, I thought we finished practice better today than we did yesterday. Overall, I thought it was a great day," said Montgomery "We were able to go in and watch film from yesterday, and correct some things. Guys came out here and executed what we corrected. As long as we keep seeing that type of improvement each and every day, I think we're on the right track."
Tulsa will put on pads for the first time for Saturday morning's practice.
"The schedule practice-wise will change quite a bit on Saturday. We'll have a couple of different team sessions and situational deals in there. With that being said, the first time you put on pads, they get all juiced back up like, 'Here we go again,' said Montgomery.
"There will be a little bit more individual time because we want to focus on tackling correctly and making sure we're coaching that up right, and the same thing from the blocking side of it. There will be a little more individual time and practice will be longer and we can finally throw the pads on and get some work done. … It's good for both sides of the football and special teams," added Montgomery. "Football is a physical game and you've got to be able to tackle and do things correctly. We've got to be able to come off the football on both sides up front. I'm always excited (to put on pads), plus I'm always scared when we don't have them on. I'm afraid we're going to get somebody hurt."
