Tulsa Men's Tennis Begins Play at Napa Invitational

NAPA, Calif. –– The University of Tulsa Men's Tennis team began play at the Napa Invitational on Friday morning with four singles matches and two doubles. The Hurricane put together a solid showing in doubles play in the afternoon, winning both matches.
 
Majed Kilani battled No. 27 Nick Crystal of Southern California in a battle of Oracle/ITA Preseason Top-125 ranked players, but fell to Crystal in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.
 
Francois Kellerman dropped his opening match against Texas' Christian Sigsgaard 7-5, 6-2.
 
Tulsa Freshman Jarod Hing took on USC senior Rob Bellamy in his first collegiate match, but fell in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.
 
Dominic Bechard went three sets with Baylor's Constantin Frantzen in the final TU singles match of the morning. Bechard fell behind after dropping the first set but battled back with a win in the second set, 6-3.  The sophomore could not complete the comeback as he fell just short in a highly contested third set, 7-6 (3).
 
Kilani and Hing started off doubles play for TU at 3 p.m. against Hilderbrand and Lyeons of UTSA, taking the match 6-1.
 
Bechard and Kellerman wrapped up doubles play for the day with a 6-3 win over Baylor's Jimmy Bendeck and Bjoern Petersen.
 
Tulsa will continue play at the Napa Invitational with four more singles matches early in the day before wrapping up with doubles play this afternoon.
