Dominic Bechard Reaches Final at Napa Valley Classic

NAPA, Calif. – The University of Tulsa Men's Tennis athlete Dominic Bechard reached the finals at the Napa Valley Classic over the weekend, rallying to win his next four matches after dropping his first of the weekend.
 
Bechard began day two of the tournament against Blaine Boyden of North Carolina, falling behind in the match after dropping the first set 6-4. The Tulsa sophomore bounced back with a win in a tightly contested second set that went into extras, 7-6 (6). Bechard responded with a dominant 6-2 third set win for his first triumph of the weekend.
 
In his final match before the main draw on day three, Bechard defeated USTA's Heller in straight sets 7-5, 6-2.
 
Bechard battled California's Andre Goransson in the quarterfinals of the USTA Wildcard Shootout and advanced to the semifinals with a 12-10 win. Bechard faced another tough challenge in the semifinals, matched up against Christian Sigsgaard of Texas. Bechard grinded out another win in a tightly contested match, 10-8, to advance to the finals of the tournament. Bechard's weekend run was ended by Jimmy Bendeck of Baylor, 10-8, as the sophomore secured a second place finish on the weekend.
 
The Tulsa Men's Tennis squad will be back in action when they host the Saint Francis ITA All-American at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Oct. 1-9.
