Corey Henderson scored a career-high 22 points off the bench as Tulsa won its fourth straight game with a 79-67 victory over the USF Bulls Saturday afternoon at the Sun Dome in front of 2,614 fans. The Hurricane improved to 11-7 overall and 5-1 in the American Athletic Conference.
 
Eleven players scored for the Hurricane. In addition to Henderson's 22 points, three more players scored in double digits. Pat Birt added 15 points, Junior Etou 11 points and Sterling Taplin scored 10 for the Hurricane. USF (6-12, 0-7 AAC) was led by Ruben Guerrero's and Troy Holston's 16 points.
 
Henderson converted 7-of-12 from the field, 3-of-5 from three-point range and 5-of-6 from the free throw line in 26 minutes. He led a Hurricane bench that outscored the USF reserves 37-12.
 
The Hurricane built a 15-point lead in the first half, only to see that advantage dissipate to one point when the Bulls made it 38-37 with 16:01 left on the game clock. The game remained within single digits for the next 10 minutes.
 
A Birt free throw gave Tulsa a 10-point lead at 5:51, but the Bulls chipped away at its deficit to six points before Henderson's three-pointer put Tulsa back ahead by double-digits. Henderson's trey gave the Hurricane a 70-59 lead with 3:03 to play. Tulsa knocked in six straight free throws to put the game out of reach with a 15-point lead at the 1:01 mark.
 
Tulsa added 3-of-4 freebies to close out the game and captured the 12-point victory on the road. 
 
After taking a 10-8 on a Henderson three-pointer at the 14:39 mark of the first half, Tulsa stretched its lead to 15 points in the first 20 minutes. TK Edogi hit one of two free throws to put the Hurricane ahead 30-15 at the 6:31 mark.
 
The Bulls out-scored Tulsa 15-to-5 in the final six minutes to knock the Hurricane halftime lead to five points at 35-30.
 
Henderson and Birt led Tulsa with seven points apiece in the first half, while the Hurricane had a 24-12 rebounding advantage and a 20-2 edge in bench scoring.
 
Tulsa continues a two-game road swing with a Wednesday game at East Carolina (9-10, 1-5 AAC) at 6:00 p.m. (CT) on ESPN3.  Tulsa returns home on Saturday, Jan. 28 for a 12:30 p.m. game against the UCF Knights. (14-4, 5-1 AAC)
