Hurricane Men and Women Sweep Top-Three Spots in 3,000-Meters

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The University of Tulsa Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams wrapped participation at the DeLoss Dodds Invitational on Saturday evening as both teams swept the top three spots in the 3,000-meter run.
 
On the women's side, Olivia Gallagher ran first in the event with a time of 10:35.64 while teammates Caitlin Klopfer and Amanda Heard finished second and third.
 
The Tulsa women added five other runner-up finishes, including two from Aaliyah Birmingham in the 60-meter and 200-meter. Kiarra Jones ran second in the 400-meters with a time of 58.69 while Sabrina Monsees and Adrena Mazzei came in second in the 800-meters and 1,000 meters, respectively.
 
Mark Middleton led the way for the Hurricane men in the 3,000-meter run as he posted a time of 8:50.49, finishing two seconds ahead of teammate Steven Salvano while Kirk Smith finished third seconds later.
 
Austin Hosteler narrowly took first as he ended up second in the 400-meters with a time of 50.15, just behind the winner's time of 49.93. Hans Kunsch came in at third in the event.
 
Tulsa returns to the track on Friday when they take part in the Big Ten Challenge in Iowa City, Iowa.
