TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa Women's Tennis team had four singles players win their respective flights at the Hurricane Invite over the weekend as play wrapped up at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
Â
The four flight winners remain unbeaten for the Hurricane in singles play for a TU squad that has amassed a 36-4 record through five events.
Â
Ksenia Laskutova rounded out the weekend as the winner of the blue flight with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Wyoming's Magdelena Stencel to move to 6-0 on the year.
Â
Marcelina Cichon improved to 7-0 in singles play with a straight sets win over Ana Tkachenko 6-2, 6-3 to win the navy flight.
Â
Martha Matoula and Martina Okalova both needed a third set tiebreak win as they split the first two sets in their respective matches to win the crimson and brown flights. Matoula dropped a first set that saw her lead most of the way to Elisa Koonik of Wyoming before responding with a 6-3 win in the second and a 10-5 win in the tiebreak.
Â
Okalova had to come from behind in her third set tiebreak as she fell behind Tessa van Der Ploeg 8-6 before scoring four straight to win the brown division.
Â
Mahitha Dadireddy used a comeback of her own in a third set tiebreak to win her match over Milka Genkova. Down 5-2 in the tiebreak, Dadireddy rattled off seven straight points to reach match point in an eventual 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6) win.
Â
The Hurricane started the day and ended the weekend with three wins in doubles, including a 7-5 win by Laskutova/Okalova over Tessa van Der Ploeg/Elisa Koonik as the Tulsa pair took the final two sets.
