Tulsa Track Teams Take Five First-Place Finishes at Iowa’s Black & Gold Premier

The Tulsa track & field team captured five first-place performances and six second-place finishes at the Black and Gold Premier Indoor Track Meet, hosted by the University of Iowa at the Iowa Recreation Center.

Tulsa claimed first place in both the men's and women's distance medley relay races, the men's mile premier, women's mile premier and the women's 3,000-meter premier

On Saturday, Tulsa's first place performances came in the mile run premier for both men and women. Marc Scott clocked a time of 4:05.36 for his first-place finish on the men's side, while Adrena Mazzei turned in a time of 4:58.85 on the women's side. Nicole Lee also clocked a first-place time in the 3,000-meter run, as she ran a time of 10:07.23.

On Friday, the women's distance medley team, comprised of Stacie Taylor, Allison Bailey, Sabrina Monsees and Adrena Mazzei, ran away with the victory by posting more than a 30-second advantage over second-place Loyola (Ill.). The Hurricane women finished with a time of 11:55.45. The men's medley team of Marc Scott, Hans Kunsch, Robert Tully and Ben Preisner clocked a medley relay time of 9:56.46 to nose out the Wisconsin Team. Tulsa's 'B' team of Adam Breaux, David Anderson, Mark Middleton and Archer Bennett came in fourth place in a time of 10:13.50

The Hurricane also turned in six second-place finishes, including three for each the men and women. On the women's side, second-place finishes were turned in by Stacie Taylor in the 3,000m premier (10:07.71) and the mile premier by Avery Culpepper (5:00.50) on Saturday. Emily Waggener placed second in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:40.09 on Friday.

On the men's side, Isaac Dobos placed second in the mile run with a time of 4:16.87 and the 3,000-meter run in a time of 8:30.14. Ben Preisner clocked a second-place time in the 3,000m premier race with a time of 8:09.65.

Tulsa is back in action next Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, February 10-11.
