Tulsa’s Evans, Flanders Participating at College Gridiron Showcase

University of Tulsa seniors Dane Evans and James Flanders are participating in the 2017 College Gridiron Showcase & Symposium, a College Football All-Star event for all divisions of college football at Pennington Field in Bedford, Texas, January 7-11.
 
The players are receiving professional coaching, mentoring, life coaching and seminars that benefit the collegiate athlete in their preparation for the NFL Draft. The format of the event showcases the players through practices and a controlled scrimmage to scouts and executives from the NFL and CFL.
 
Evans, a 6'1" quarterback from Sanger, Texas, completed his Tulsa career as the school's leader for career passing (11,680), total offense (11,752), TD passes thrown (84), pass completions (904) and pass attempts (1,567), As a senior, Evans completed 259-of-435 passes for 3,348 yards, 32 TDs and a 257.5 average per game.
 
A 5'10" running back from Midwest City, Okla., Flanders was a first-team American Athletic Conference selection after leading the league in rushing with 1,629 yards and 18 touchdowns. He ranked seventh nationally for rushing yards and was ninth in the nation with 125.3 rushing yards per game. Flanders' 18 rushing TDs also was the seventh-most in the NCAA for 2016.
 
The Showcase will feature three practice sessions that begin on Monday, Jan. 9 and concludes with a controlled scrimmage on Wednesday, Jan. 11. Sunday was filled with seminars and NFL Team interviews.
