MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Tulsa (9-10, 3-4 American) was back on the court Friday night, as they took to the road for a matchup with the Memphis Tigers (7-11, 0-6 American). Mariah Pardo led the Golden Hurricane with 37 assists, as TU won, 3-1 (23-25, 25-14, 25-18, 25-18).

The Tigers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but the Hurricane scored four unanswered points and took a 4-2 lead. Memphis responded with a run of its own to regain the lead, 7-4. Tulsa battled back and took an 8-7 lead. The first set was close for the remainder of the set, but the Tigers won the set, 25-23. Emily Thorson led the attack with three kills, while Callie Cook and Rachel Moore each added two kills. Taylor Horsfall picked up nine digs in the first stanza. Mariah Pardo assisted on seven kills.

The Golden Hurricane started the second set with a bang, as it took an early 5-0 lead. TU continued to pull away as it took the second set, 25-14. Cook and Moore sparked the Tulsa offense with four kills each, while Ebony Carter added three kills. Horsfall scooped up six digs to pace the defense. Pardo tallied 11 assists. As a team, Tulsa was efficient on the attack as it posted a hitting percentage of .500.

After the intermission, the two teams kept the third set close, until the Hurricane started to pull away and made the score, 8-5. TU closed out the third set, 25-18. Horsfall continued to lead the defense with seven digs. Thorson produced six kills, as Pardo provided eight assists.

The fourth set started off close, with the score tied at 8-8, but Tulsa pulled away and took the set, 25-18. Emily Hubbard led the offense with four kills, while Cook added three. Pardo collected 11 assists for the second time, in the fourth set. Thorson and Horsfall each recorded four digs.

The Tigers were led by Tai Bierria with 14 kills, Kelsea Bivins added 10. Mady Ruhlman had 15 digs to lead Memphis. Faith Myers assisted on 19 kills. As a team, the Tigers tallied 55 digs, 41 kills, 40 assists, and nine blocks.

The Golden Hurricane totaled 59 digs, 45 kills, 43 assists, and 11 blocks. For the match, TU held Memphis to a team hitting percentage of .086.

Thorson earned her ninth double-double, with 12 kills and 10 assists. Cook finished with double-digit kills, with 10. Ebony Carter led the team with six total blocks, while Cook, Moore and Pardo notched three total blocks each. Horsfall led the team defensively with 26 digs. Pardo accumulated 37 assists and recorded a match-high three service aces.

With the victory, Tulsa improved to 9-10 overall and 3-4 in The American Athletic Conference. The Golden Hurricane return to action on Sunday, as they travel to No. 22 Wichita State. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
