Tulsa to Participate in the ITA Regionals

TULSA, Okla. – The Golden Hurricane women's tennis team returns to the court at the ITA Regionals, in Lawrence, Kansas, this weekend. The tournament starts on Oct. 19, and runs through Oct. 23.

Alexandrina Chinikova, Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg, Tamara Kupkova, Ksenia Laskutova, Martha Matoula, Martina Okalova, Vera Ploner, and Shura Poppe will represent Tulsa at the ITA Regionals.

Laskutova is the No. 4 seed. She will take on SLU's Ariana Rodriguez at 3 p.m. Matoula, the No. 14 seed, will battle Carmen Palumbo of North Dakota at 2:30 p.m. Okalova is the No. 15 seed and will face UMKC's Yana Grechkina at 11:30 a.m. Poppe will take on SLU's Ally McKenzie at 1 p.m. Kupkova is set to face Michelle Lo of UNO at 12:30 p.m. Van Rensburg has a matchup with UMKC's Aliona Ladutska at 1 p.m. Chinikova has a first round matchup against Alexa Brandt of Bradley at 2 p.m. Ploner will face Janelle Wilson of UNO at 11:30 a.m.

In the doubles draw, the duo of Laskutova and Matoula will take on Joely Lomas and Summer Brills of Drake. The tandem of Okalova and Ploner has an opening round matchup against North Dakota's Elly Hartnett and Palumbo. Van Rensburg and Chinikova take on Ally and Cassie McKenzie of SLU. The previous matches are all scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Poppe and Kupkova with take on Nebraska's Jeannie Lozowski and Katerina Matysova at 10 a.m.

All opening round singles and doubles matches will take place on Thursday, Oct. 19.
