TU Basketball to Host Blue and Gold Scrimmage on Saturday

TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa men's and women's basketball teams will host a Blue and Gold Scrimmage on the Donald W. Reynolds Center floor at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, to give fans an early look at the squads before the start of the 2017-18 season.
 
The event is free to the public and the programs will accept donations that will benefit Coaches vs. Cancer.
 
Both teams will scrimmage for two 10-minute halves, beginning with head coach Matilda Mossman's women's team at 3 p.m. Head coach Frank Haith and the Golden Hurricane men's squad will follow shortly after the conclusion of the women's scrimmage and the teams will be available to meet fans and sign autographs after the scrimmage.
 
Mossman's team returns 10 letterwinners, including four starters, from last year's team, and added three newcomers to the squad.  TU has two seniors – Ebony Parker and Erika Wakefield; three juniors – Tatyana Perez, Crystal Polk and Tyjae' Scales; five sophomores – Jasmine Butler, Shug Dickson, Kendrian Elliott, Alexis Gaulden and Addison Richards; and three freshmen – Morgan Brady, Rebecca Lescay and Krystan Vornes on the roster.
 
TU will play a preseason contest against Arkansas-Fort Smith on Nov. 1, before opening the regular season against American University on Nov. 10.  Both games begin at 7:00 pm at the Reynolds Center.
 
Haith's men's team returns eight letterwinners, including four starters and 72-percent of the squad's offense from a season ago. In addition to the returners, TU welcomes a pair of prep standouts in Elijah Joiner and Darien Jackson, and a pair of transfers with Curran Scott and DaQuan Jeffries.
 
The Golden Hurricane men will open exhibition play at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30, against Northwestern Oklahoma State at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. TU also will host Missouri S&T on Nov. 4 before officially opening the 2017-18 season on Nov. 10 against Lamar.
 
Saturday also is the final day of Haith's offer to cover half the cost of season tickets for new men's basketball season ticket buyers. Haith will cover half the cost of the tickets and Golden Hurricane Club donation, and for each new season ticket purchased, he will donate a season ticket to a local non-profit organization.
