TULSA, Okla. – Joshua Goodger picked up a victory in the first round of the qualifying draw Monday, as Tulsa men's tennis was in action at the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships.

Alan Gadjiev of Wake Forrest jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first set against the Golden Hurricane's Joshua Goodger. Goodger fought back and broke several serves to tie the first set at 4-4. He used that momentum and won the next two gamess to take the first set, 6-4. Goodger continued the second set the way the first set ended, as he took the first game in the second. Gadjiev and Goodger both won games on their serves and Goodger held a slight advantage, 3-2, early in the second. Goodger went on to take three games in a row to win the second set, 6-2. With the victory, Goodger will face Wichita State's Haru Inoue in the second round of the qualifying draw Tuesday, with the time to be announced later.

Lucca Baptista battled Utah State's Jaime Barajas in the first round. Baptista and Barajas stayed on serve until the first set was 3-2, in favor of Barajas. Barajas took the next three games as he won the first set, 6-2. Baptista took the first game of the second set as the two remained on serve once again, this time it was 4-3 in favor of Baptista. Barajas broke serve and then won a game on his serve to take a 5-4 lead. Baptista was able to break Barajas' serve to square up the second set at 5-5. Barajas took the final two games and won the second set, 7-5, and won the match, 6-2 and 7-5.

Jarod Hing saw his first action of the tournament as he faced Duke's Catalin Mateas. Mateas, who was the No. 4 seed, won the match without surrendering a game, 6-0 and 6-0.

In doubles action, the tandem of Majed Kilani and Boriss Kamdem took on the duo of Thomas Laurent and Akihiro Tanaka of Oregon in the first round of the qualifying draw. The pair from Oregon jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the first set. Kilani and Kamdem clawed back and pulled within two games, 5-3, but Tanaka and Laurent took the next game to win the first set 6-3. Like the first set, Oregon jumped out to a 4-1 lead, and took the second set, 6-2.
