Tulsa Rowers Earn Four Medals at Jayhawk Jamboree

The Tulsa rowers earned a gold medal, two silver medals and a bronze medal at the Jayhawk Jamboree on Sunday afternoon on the Kaw River in Burcham Park in Lawrence, Kan.
"We had a really solid day," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "I am pleased with effort the team put out, the teams' spirit is high and we are rowing really well. I am most pleased about the fact that they are hearing what we are coaching them to do and are applying it. I like what I'm seeing; the foundation is there, the team is working hard and looking to get even better as we move forward. There is good leadership on this team and they have stepped up and are representing The University of Tulsa well."
Jasmine Leheta and Paige Hallam turned a first-place finish in the Varsity 2x in a time of 15:01.07, while Daniela Fusco-House and Elizabeth McCabe finished second with a time of 15:56.39.
In the Varsity 8+ event, Sam Barber, Lucy Coleman, Julia Herrel, Sophia Camara, Ellie Russell, Helen Leigh, Veronique Ulrich, Julia Dunn and Alessia Ruggiu captured a second-place mark with a time of 12:37.59, 12 seconds behind the Oklahoma 'A' crew. Tulsa's 'B' boat was 11th in the field of 22 boats.
Barber, Coleman, Herrel, Camara, and Ruggiu posted a third-place time of 14:03.54 in the Varsity 4+. TU's 'B' boat finished in fifth place with a time of 14:13.43, while the Golden Hurricane 'C' boat was 11th, the 'E' boat was 13th and the 'D' boat was 21st in a field of 30 boats.
