Baseline to Baseline: DaQuan Jeffries

Junior DaQuan Jeffries made his debut in a Tulsa uniform on Monday night and he finished with 15 points, six rebounds, a pair of assists and a steal to help the Golden Hurricane to a 96-65 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State in its exhibition opener. Jeffries got the start and went 5-of-9 from the floor, including 2-of-4 behind the arc, in 28 minutes of action.

The 6-foot-5 native of Edmond, Okla., came to TU from Western Texas CC where he led the team to a 22-10 record as he averaged 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game during the 2016-17 campaign. He shot 66-percent during the season and earned first-team All-Western Junior College Athletic Conference and All-Region V honors.

Jeffries played his prep seasons at Santa Fe High School for head coach Lenny Hatchett. He picked up Oklahoma Class 6A All-State honors and was named the Defensive Player of the Year in the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference in his final season. Jeffries also was named to The Oklahoman Super 5 and All-State Teams and he was selected to play in the Big All-City Game following the season.
