
Tulsa Falls to #21 Memphis 41-14

TULSA, Okla. –– Tulsa played it close in the first half, but the 21st-ranked Memphis Tigers were two much for the Hurricane in the second half and went on for a 41-14 victory in front of 17,383 fans at H.A. Chapman Stadium Friday night.
After putting up 261 total yards in the first half, Tulsa's offense could manage only 18 third quarter yards, as the Tigers outscored the Hurricane in the third period 10-0. Memphis added 10 points in the 4th quarter for the win, while Tulsa totaled just 30 4th quarter yards and was held scoreless for the half.
Tulsa (2-8, 1-5 AAC) ended with 302 total yards, including just 59 yards in the final 30 minutes, while Memphis (8-1, 5-1 AAC) reached 524 yards in total offense for the game, including 333 passing yards and 191 yards on the ground.
D'Angelo Brewer had his 15h career 100-yard rushing game for the Hurricane with 119 yards on 21 carries.
Tulsa kept it close against the Tigers in the first half, responding with touchdowns after Memphis' first two scores for a 14-14 game.
Memphis scored on its second possession of the game with a 17-yard pass from Ferguson to Darrell Henderson. Tulsa then took possession at its own 5-yard line and went 95 yards in 11 plays to tie the score at 7-7, as Luke Skipper raced the final 10 yards.
It took the Tigers just 3 plays to go 75 yards, as a 59-yard pass play resulted in the touchdown. The Hurricane again responded with an 80-yard, 8-play drive of their own as Chad President ran the final 7 yards for the score and after the PAT, a 14-14 tie.
Tulsa forced a Memphis punt, but on the Tigers' next possession they went 59 yards in 7 plays for a 21-14 lead, as the score came on Memphis' third touchdown pass of the game.
Memphis took that 7-point lead into halftime. For the first half, Memphis gained 267 total yards on 30 plays, while Tulsa had 242 yards on 40 offensive snaps.
The Tigers came out in the second half and took the opening possession 90 yards in 17 plays, while taking 6:23 off the clock. The Hurricane went 3-and-out on its three third quarter possessions.

TOE-TO-TOE … The Hurricane went toe-to-tow with the #21-ranked Memphis Tigers in the first half, responding to Memphis first two touchdowns with touchdowns of their own… the Hurricane went 95 yards in 11 plays for a 7-7 tie, and then in the second quarter went 80 yards in 8 plays for a touchdown and a tie game at 14.
D'ANGELO GOES OVER 1,000 … D'Angelo Brewer went over 1,000 yards on the season for the second straight season … he surpassed the 1,000-yard plateau on a 30-yard run in the 1st quarter (5:55)… he became the 5th player in school history to have back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons.
