Shug Dickson scored a career-high 33 points, including 20 points in the final quarter, in front of her hometown crowd, but Tulsa dropped a 77-66 decision to Saint Louis on Tuesday evening at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Mo.  TU fell to 5-7 on the season, while SLU moved to 6-7 overall.

"We were good when we were urgent," Head Coach Matilda Mossman said.  "Erika had six points at halftime because she attacked the basket.  When we got others on board to attack we got better.  In the last 15 minutes we played the same group because they were urgent in what they were doing."

This was Dickson's first 20+ scoring game on the season and eighth in her career.  Her 33 points rank third in school history for points scored in a single game by a player, as she ties the mark hit by Carla Morrow, Jillian Robbins (twice), Taleya Mayberry and Ashley Clark.

"It's really special to bring a kid back to their hometown and they have a career night," Mossman said.  "She shot 50-percent from the field, hit all six of her free throw attempts and got rebounds.  She played a complete game."

Erika Wakefield added a season-best 16 points, but the next highest scorer was Tatyana Perez with six.  Dickson and Tyjae' Scales each pulled down six rebounds, while Wakefield and Ebony Parker both had five boards in the contest, and Wakefield had a team-best four steals.

The Hurricane battled back in the final frame, outscoring the Billikens, 26-16, with Dickson leading the way with 20 fourth-quarter points.

Tulsa had a 9-1 lead in steals, while Saint Louis had a 41-35 lead in rebounds, a 21-7 advantage in assists and a 6-2 lead in blocks.

Tulsa shot 36-percent from the field, including just 22-percent from three-point range, and 90-percent from the free throw line (10-of-11), while Saint Louis shot 52-percent from the field, 47-percent from behind the arc and 73-percent (17-of-23) from the charity stripe.

TU had a 36-30 lead in points in the paint, a 17-5 advantage in points off turnovers, an 11-5 lead in second chance points and an 11-6 lead in points off the bench.

Tulsa started the game just 1-of-9 from the field to trail 9-2 before Wakefield scored on a layup at the 4:31 mark. The Golden Hurricane continued to struggle to shoot the ball, going just 4-of-16 for 25-percent, while the Billikens shot 64-percent for a 21-10 lead at the end of the frame.

Tulsa came back strong, shooting 71-percent to start the 2nd quarter and outscore SLU, 11-7, to trail 28-21 with 6:08 on the clock.  Dickson added a long jumper and Ebony Parker hit a three to pull to within two, 28-26, with 4:35 left to play in the second frame, but SLU went on a 14-2 run to close out the first half with a 42-28 advantage.

Saint Louis continued to increase their lead, outscoring Tulsa, 19-12, in the third quarter for a 61-40 advantage.

Saint Louis was led by five players in double figures, including Jackie Kemph (16), Aaliyah Covington (15), Maddison Gits (14), Jenny Vliet (13) and Jordyn Frantz (13).  Vliet also had a team-best 12 rebounds, while Kemph had eight assists.

Tulsa will return to action on Friday, December 22 against Arkansas State.  Game time is set for 1:00 pm at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
