SIGNING DAY CENTRALÂ
ROSTER OF 2017 SIGNEES INCLUDING VIDEO
BEHIND THE SCENES OF SIGNING DAY
6:57 AM
GOOD MORNING AMERICA! And especially Tulsa football fans, the day you've been waiting for since Tulsa's 55-10 win in the Miami Beach Bowl over Central Michigan.
Â
Today, is a day that a bunch of grown men stand around a fax machine or wait for an email to come across their inbox from 17 and 18-year-olds, and sometimes a year or two older. It's NATIONAL SIGNING DAY. That means I'm back too, with a simple blog to hope give every TU fan a little glimpse of what goes on behind the scene. (and yes, those grown men will also be standing around eating some breakfast goodies, but don't tell their wives).
Â
Make sure to check out TulsaHurricane.com on 'Signing Day Central' where you can see all the up-to-date signee information. If you're a Twitter or instagram person, pay close attention today to  Twitter @TulsaFootball and @CoachPMonty and Instagram @Tulsa_Football. Later in the day you'll also get a little different look on Facebook.com/TulsaFootball.
Â
OK, let's get down to business. Who was the first person here at the football offices getting ready to kick-off the day? He showed up at 5:00 a.m. It was…………………. Jose! 'Who the heck is Jose?', you ask. Jose is WFF's custodial engineer who keeps the football offices clean and in tip-top shape.
Â
Ravi Savitala, assistant director of football operations and recruiting, was the actual first staff member who arrived. He said he checked in early, time is estimated to be 5:50 a.m.
Â
Russell Fisher, one of the most important people on signing day, the Assistant AD for Compliance, arrived at 6:45 a.m. Why is he so important?  Until the letter-of-intent is official the signee is not official ... he has to make sure it is properly signed (Don't tell him he's the most important person though).
Â
At 6:49 a.m., Coach Justin Hill, running backs coach, just went on record to say that he will have the first recruit papers to be emailed in. A steak dinner, from Flemings, is riding on it for the coach who gets the first recruit to get his papers to arrive by fax or email.
T-Minus 3 minutes.
Â
7:03 AM
Ok. It's going strong in the early going. The coaches are gathering around the fax machine as we stated would happen. Coach Hill is anticipating that steak dinner, but it looks like he may be buying the steak dinner. He got beat out, but one paper is missing on Coach Beau Trahan's recruit (only the NLI came in), now it looks like Coach Gillespie might be in the running. And Coach Fletch (cornerbacks coach), was the darkhorse who appears to be the winner.
Â
YES. IT'S OFFICIAL . . . coach Aaron Fletcher is the winner of the steak dinner, as Akayleb Evans a cornerback from McKinney Texas is in.
7:40 AM
As of now, 10 signees have come across the fax or email.
Â
Media have shown up to follow the day's proceedings here at signing day headquarters… Kelly Hines of the Tulsa World and John Moss of Channel 8. (it's really not a headquarters, just sounded good). Just a bunch of people surrounded around a fax machine and computers.
Â
We are also seeing our Compliance Officer Russell getting the emails on his iPhone.
Â
The latest to arrive is Keylon Stokes. From everything I hear he has a lot of the same skills as his brother – Tulsa's third all-time leading receiver Keevan Lucas.
8:08Â AM
No. 11- Garrett Flanary from Lincoln Christian High School came in at 7:41, and there's been, as Coach Monty just said, 'we're having a lull'. 11 is pretty good for an hour.
Â
The list of signees will hopefully reach either 23 or 24 by the end of the day.
Â
Miss Micki and Miss Kendrin are in the house -- the glue that makes the football office work.
Don't forget today to watch the LIVE press conference with Coach Montgomery at 1 pm on TulsaHurricane.com.
Â
Oh, thanks for telling me. Breakfast showed up from Tally's a 1/2 hour ago and no one told me. It's break time.
8:20 AM
The silence is broken… #12 and #13 are now in, one local – safety Marcus Mays from Tulsa's Edison High School and deep snapper Adam Higuera from Arizona.
Â
Okay, one correction. As no one told me the food had arrived, I was also not given the actual times of arrival for the 'glue' to the office - Micki and Kendrin. Micki arrived at 7:15.29 and Kendrin made it by 7:42.
Â
As those two are feverishly working, there were five coaches lounging in the seating area glued to their iPhones.
Â
9:01 AM
Two hours in and a total of 17, including punter Thomas Bennett and linebacker Chase Brown, who are already enrolled and taking classes.
Coach Montgomery has talked to all of the signees after their approved signed papers arrive. Boy, it's like a kid in the candy store to see his excitement.
10:02 AM
Sorry for the long layoff. It's been kind of quiet with a few signings coming in over the last hour.
Â
One bit of news before signing day even began this morning, prior to 7 am, Coach Montgomery interrupted the 6 AM morning weights session with some important information for the Golden Hurricane team – Rowdy Simon, a four-year walk-on running back and special teams player, from Vian, Oklahoma, was put on scholarship.
Â
Also, it was made known today that Keylon Stokes, younger brother of Keevan Lucas, has asked for and will wear his older brother's #2.
Â
A total of 19 signees today plus the two mid-year signees gives Tulsa 21 so far in this 2017 class. Still awaiting some.
10:33Â AM
Well as some of you might be wondering, there was a local signee earlier that signed papers at his high school. However, the papers have not been approved by Compliance at this time due to some small issue on the paperwork (nothing that can't be fixed), therefore there is no official announcement of his signing.
Â
In other news, Katy, Texas, receiver J.C. Santana is the latest signee to get his official papers approved.
Update: I'm hearing that the one issue has been cleared up and we could be getting that announcement soon.
10:40 AM
OK, issue solved. Ryan Patrick, from Bishop Kelley High School, who signed earlier this morning at the high school is the latest signee for Tulsa, making the total 23, which may be the final number. There is a possibility Tulsa may have one more signing, but no word yet.
Â
The football office has quieted down quite a bit since that first 60 minutes. Coaches are meeting, eating, talking, laughing and enjoying the rest of the day…. And waiting for some word if the 2017 class is complete, or is there one more???
11:08 AM
If you haven't gotten enough football recruiting yet, here's where you can get more . . .
