Tulsa (12-14, 6-8 AAC) couldn't overcome Cincinnati's 16-2 run to start the second half as the 18th-ranked Bearcats claimed an 80-60 victory over the Golden Hurricane Saturday afternoon in front of 13,386 fans at the Fifth Third Arena.

Junior Etou led Tulsa with 22 points and eight rebounds, while Jaleel Wheeler added 10 points, all coming in the second half. All five starters scored in double-figures for the Bearcats, led by Kyle Washington's 18 points.

Tulsa shot its best from the field in the last eight games with a .432 percentage, while the Hurricane found its stroke from behind the arc, converting 11-of-19 treys for a season-high 57.9 percent. Cincinnati connected on 56-percent from the field and 47-percent from three-point range.

Cincinnati (24-3, 13-1 AAC) led by six points at halftime, 38-32, and after beginning the second half on a 16-2 run led 54-34 at the 13:27 mark. Pat Birt's three-pointer 14 seconds later cut the UC lead to 54-37 with 13:13 remaining. The Bearcats responded with a 10-0 run of its own to take its largest lead of the game at 27 points., 64-37, at the 11:04 mark.

In the first half and trailing 29-20 at the 5:56 mark, Tulsa went on an 8-0 run to cut the UC's lead to 29-28 when Birt knocked through a jumper at the 3:39 mark. The Bearcats responded with a 9-0 run of their own to take a 38-28 lead with just over one-minute to play.

The Hurricane closed out the half scoring the final four points as Sterling Taplin's layup with 0:05 on the first-half clock made the halftime score 38-32.

Etou led the Hurricane in the first half with 14 points, followed by Taplin's seven. UC was led by Jacob Evans with 13 and Washington with 11 points.

Cincinnati shot a sizzling 62.5-percent from the field and 55.6-percent from three-point range in the first 20 minutes. Tulsa connected on 46.4-percent of its field goals and connected on 6-of-10 three-pointers for 60 percent. The Bearcats had a 16-9 advantage in first-half rebounding.
