Softball Heads South for Cardinal Classic This Weekend

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa softball team will play five games this weekend at the Cardinal Classic hosted by Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, beginning tomorrow morning with a matchup against Alabama A&M before heading to Lake Charles, La. to take on McNeese State on their home field.
 
The Hurricane (4-6 overall) will return to the Lamar Softball Complex on Saturday to take on Northern Illinois and Kansas before wrapping up weekend play against host Lamar on Sunday afternoon at 2:45 p.m.

THE AMERICAN HONOR ROLL...
Junior pitcher Emily Watson was named to The American Athletic Conference Honor Roll after going 2-0 in the circle at the FAU Strike-Out Cancer Tournament over the weekend. Watson posted a 1.54 ERA in 13.2 innings of work, striking out 13 batters while surrendering just three earned runs.

TOUCH 'EM ALL...
Junior Shelby Estocado moved into the top ten on Tulsa's list for career home runs over the weekend as she hit two at the FAU Strike-Out Cancer Tournament. Estocado passed former Tulsa player and current Associate Head Coach Crissy Strimple (2002-03) for 10th all-time with her first homer of the weekend against Florida Atlantic before moving into ninth with her second, passing Angela Fuller (1995-98). The junior is one home run away from tying Sara Dyer (2005-08) and Erica Sampson (2014-15) for seventh most all-time. 

PLAYER NOTES...
Maggie Withee enters the weekend ranking in the top-10 in Tulsa history in batting average (6th-.329), runs scored (7th-116) and fielding assists (9th-332).

Shelby Estocado ranks fifth in school history in slugging percentage with a .529 clip and ninth in career home runs with 20.

Emily Watson ranks 10th all-time at TU in career strikeouts (279) and most strikeouts looking (59) while ranking second all-time in most strikeouts per seven innings with 8.14.
