Track and Field Set for American Indoor Championships

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa Track and Field teams are set to compete in The American Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend in Birmingham, Ala. The event will start tomorrow at 9 a.m. and wrap up on Saturday.
Senior Marc Scott heads into the weekend with conference-leading performances in the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter, posting times of 7:47.57 and 13:38.87 respectively. Scott also ranks second in The American in the mile run. Junior Adam Roderique posted the second best time in The American this season with a run of 14:19.43 in the 5,000-meter at the Iowa State Classic.
Tulsa's distance runners hold five of the top 11 times in the mile run and four of the top five in the 3,000-meter.
In men's field events, back-to-back The American Field Athlete of the Week Aleks Rapp leads the conference with a toss of 70 feet, 10 inches in the weight throw. In addition to leading the conference in the event, the freshman's school-record toss currently ranks 13th in the nation.
Freshman sprinter Aaliyah Birmingham posted the sixth-best time in the conference in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.50 at the Iowa State Classic and ranks fifth in The American in the 200-meter with a time of 24.24.
The Tulsa women hold two top-10 times in the 800-meter and mile run, as Sabrina Monsees and Allison Bailey rank seventh and ninth in the 800 while Stacie Taylor and Adrena Mazzei rank ninth and tenth in the mile run.
