Marc Scott Named Men’s Outstanding Performer as Tulsa Men Place Third at AAC Championships

MEN'S FINAL RESULTS  I  WOMEN'S FINAL RESULTS

Tulsa senior Marc Scott was named the men's most outstanding track performer at the American Athletic Conference Championships after winning the mile and 3,000-meter on Saturday. Scott led the Golden Hurricane men's track& field team to a third-place league finish at the Birmingham Crossplex Indoor Track in Birmingham, Alabama.
 
Houston won the men's team championship with 174 points, followed by UConn nosing out Tulsa for second place, 111.50 to 109.  For the women, Tulsa finished in ninth place with a total of 20 points, while UCF claimed the team title with 122 points.
 
The Tulsa men picked up 18 points in the mile run with Scott posting a time of 4:12.17 for the his first victory of the day, while juniors Mark Middleton and Ellis Coon finished in 4th and 7th place and sophomore Adam Breaux claimed eight place. Middleton clocked a time of 4:13.39, while Coon finished in 4:17.71 and Breaux 4:18.79.
 
Later in the day, Scott clocked a time of 8:09.53 to claim first-place in the 3,000m run as the Hurricane took six of the first eight places, while garnering 27 points in the 3,000. Sophomore Ben Preisner and junior Adam Roderique finished in third and fourth place, respectively, with times of 8:15.27 and 8:18.59.
 
Austin Del Posso (8:25.19), Henry Pearce (8:26.80) and Isaac Dobos (8:29.72) took placed sixth through eighth in the 3,000m.
 
On Friday, Scott and his distance medley teammates won the race medley team by clocking a time of 9:52.01 to claim first place, breaking Tulsa's meet record of 9:56.46 that was set last year. It was the first of Scott's three winning performances for the weekend.
 
Sophomore Bailey Stewart clocked a third-place time in the 400m of 47.73 for six points on Saturday. In the 8000m, Grey Howard clocked a sixth-place time of 1:52.71 for the Hurricane.
 
Freshman Aleks Rapp, who captured the hammer throw title Friday, finished in eighth-place in the shot put on Saturday with a throw of 16.11m (52-10.25).
 
The Tulsa women picked up 12 points on Saturday to move up two spots for its final standing of ninth-place.
 
Freshman Adrena Mazzei picked up four points for the Hurricane women in the first running event on Saturday as she placed fifth in the mile run with a time of 4:53.40.
Sophomore Sabrina Monsees finished in sixth place in the 800m in a time of 2:14.54 tp pick up three points for the women.

The women's 4x400 relay team finished in fourth place with a time of 3:43.60 to pick up five points.
