The University of Tulsa Softball team recorded their second and third straight shutouts on Friday afternoon in a doubleheader sweep, defeating Southeast Missouri State 6-0 before taking down UMKC in six innings, 9-0. The Hurricane (17-10 Overall) have won three in a row and six of the last seven contests while outscoring their opponents 40-6 during the span.

Emily Watson tallied her third straight shutout win in the circle in the opening game against SEMO, striking out 12 batters while allowing just one hit en route to picking up her 12th victory of the season. Watson moved into seventh all-time on Tulsa's list for career strikeouts with 384, passing Lacey Middlebrooks (2011-13). The junior currently trails Jenny Magill (1999-2002) with 440 for sixth all-time on the list.

Morgan Neal drove in the first run of the day in the opening frame after consecutive singles by Julia Hollingsworth and Maggie Withee before a Maddie Withee single brought another run across. Shelby Estocado drove in the final run of the inning with one of her two hits in the game, sending a single up the middle to bring in Maddie Withee to put Tulsa up 3-0.

The Tulsa offense plated three more runs in the fourth inning after a Hollingsworth hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded scored Shannon Hughes with one out. Maggie Withee's second hit of the morning following by a Neal sacrifice fly to left field put Tulsa ahead 6-0, a lead that would hold for the remainder of the ball game.

Madison Higley picked up her first collegiate win in the circle in the second game of the doubleheader, tossing 6.0 innings with eight strikeouts while allowing four hits and walking two.

Four Hurricane hitters put together multi-hit performances, led by Mikayla Whitten's career-high three hits in a perfect game at the plate with a triple. Whitten scored two runs and drove in two, including one in the opening inning that put the Hurricane ahead 5-0 after RBIs from Estocado and Hughes.

After plating a run in the fifth to build a 7-0 advantage, Tulsa added two more in the sixth to put the game all but out of reach. Kelsey Eropkin came in to score before Whitten's final RBI, a sacrifice fly to right field, drove in the ninth run of the contest.

Tulsa will return to the diamond tomorrow with another doubleheader beginning with a matchup against No. 13-ranked LSU at 9 a.m. before taking on Kansas at 2 p.m.
