The No. 9 seeded Tulsa women's basketball team concluded the season with a 105-57 loss to No. 1 seed and No. 1 ranked UConn on Saturday afternoon in the American Athletic Conference Championship Quarterfinals at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn. The Golden Hurricane posted a 10-21 record on the season, while the Huskies moved to 30-0 overall.
"I want to remember the season by our two previous games," Head Coach Matilda Mossman said. "The way we came back after six losses in a row to win at Cincinnati and beat Memphis in the first round, that's where I envision our future. I am proud of the strides we made throughout the year. We won a lot of close games with a lot of inexperienced kids and I thought we put ourselves in a better position for next year."
"Our two seniors – Ashley Hughes and Jessica Pongonis – rallied at the end of the year. Their last three games of the year were really solid and we're going to miss their work ethic, leadership and who they are away from the floor."
Erika Wakefield had a team-best 15 points, while Ashley Hughes had nine points and a team-leading eight rebounds. Kendrian Elliott added eight points.
Tulsa shot 38-percent from the field, 29-percent from three-point range and were 4-of-4 from the charity stripe, while UConn shot 62-percent from the field, 47-percent from behind the arc and were 20-of-20 from the free throw line in the contest.
UConn had a 36-25 lead in rebounds, a 27-10 advantage in assists, an 8-1 lead in blocks and an 8-4 advantage in steals.

TU shot 29-percent from the field, 36-percent from behind the arc and were 2-of-2 from the free throw line, while the Huskies shot 60-percent from the field, 44-percent from three-point range and were 14-of-14 from the charity stripe in the first 20 minutes.
