
Softball Travels to Norman for Matchup Against #9 Oklahoma

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa softball team will play their first mid-week contest of the season as they head to Norman, Okla. to take on the No. 9-ranked Oklahoma Sooners tomorrow evening at 6 p.m.
The Hurricane (11-8 overall) head into the contest with the Sooners (15-4 overall) having won five of the last six contests, including a 3-1 mark last weekend at the Maverick Classic. Maggie Withee led the Tulsa offense with a .643 average at the plate while scoring a team-high runs during the four-game span. Emily Watson held things down in the circle for the Hurricane as she struck out 30 batters in 15 innings of work in two appearances with a 0.47 earned run average.
Tulsa's game against Oklahoma will be broadcasted on Fox Sports Oklahoma.

THE AMERICAN HONOR ROLL...
Maggie Withee was named to The American Athletic Conference Honor Roll after posting four multi-hit games as the Hurricane went 3-1 at the Maverick Classic over the weekend. Withee capped off the weekend with a three hit performance in a 7-0 win over UT Arlington while tying a career-high with three runs scored. The senior posted a .643 (9-for-14) average at the plate while scoring a team-best six runs.
STRIKEOUT SENSATION...
Through four weekends of play, pitcher Emily Watson has struck out 85 batters for an average of 10.1 strikeouts per seven innings, leading The American while ranking 12th and 17th nationally in the categories respectively. Watson struck out 30 batters in 15.0 innings of work over the weekend, including a season-high 16 in a win over UT Arlington. The junior has reached double-digit strikeouts in each of her last four starts while passing Lacey Middlebrooks (2011-13) on Tulsa's career strikeout list at eighth all-time.
MULTI-HIT STREAK...
Senior Maggie Withee is in the midst of a multi-hit game hitting streak, having tallied at-least two base hits in each of her last five games. Withee has 11 total hits during the span for a batting average of .688. On Saturday, Withee moved into 8th all-time on Tulsa's career hit list, passing Julie Shafer (2003-06) with her 194th career hit.
