FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Tulsa Softball team fell in their rematch between a pair of top-30 RPI teams on the road at #24 Arkansas on Tuesday evening 3-1 at Bogle Park. The Hurricane (26-13 Overall) offense was able to produce a run in the sixth inning after trailing 3-0 to pull within striking distance in the seventh after a slow start offensively.

Emily Watson started the game in the circle for Tulsa, who as a team threw three different pitchers that allowed three runs on seven hits in six innings.

Watson faced the minimum in her two innings of work to open play, striking out three while allowing just one hit by the Razorbacks' (25-14 Overall) Autumn Russell, who was eventually thrown out by Rylie Spell trying to steal second in the first inning.

Madison Higley sent down the first four batters she faced after entering the circle to begin the third before allowing a run on two hits with one down in the fourth. Higley was credited with the loss in her eighth appearance to move her record on the season to 1-1.

The Razorbacks added two in the following frame after consecutive singles with no outs against Higley put two on before Haley Meinen entered the ball game for TU to close out the night in the circle. Arkansas picked up a RBI single from Shelby Hiers to go ahead by two, eventually taking a 3-0 lead on a wild pitch.

Tulsa's offense picked up their only hit through the first five innings in the third as Spell sent a double over the fielder out in center field with two outs in the inning before stringing together two of their four hits in the sixth.

Julia Hollingsworth extended her hitting streak to seven games with a two-out single in the sixth followed by a Maggie Withee single of her own that put runners on second and third after an Arkansas throwing error. Hollingsworth would eventually score her team-leading 35th run on a wild pitch for TU's only run of the evening as the score moved to 3-1.

Maddie Withee recorded Tulsa's third hit of the evening to leadoff the seventh inning against the Razorbacks' Caroline Hedgcock, tossed 7.0 innings with two strikeouts as she moved to 2-2 in the circle. A fielder's choice and a flyout to right field would leave Withee stranded on first to end the game.

Tulsa will return to their home field at the Collins Family Softball Complex as they host Houston for an American Athletic Conference three-game series that will match-up the top two teams in the conference standings. Game one is scheduled for Thursday evening at 5 p.m.
