TULSA, Okla. — Emily Watson scattered three hits and struck out 11 over seven scoreless innings to record her ninth shutout of the season and fuel Tulsa to a 3-0 win and season sweep of Oklahoma State on Wednesday evening at Collins Softball Complex.

In front of a season-high crowd of 815, the Golden Hurricane (30-13) won their fourth straight game and notched their 16th consecutive season of at least 30 victories. Watson (21-3) finished with double-digits strikeouts for the eighth time in her last nine starts, while Tulsa scored all the runs it would need with three in the first inning.

Maggie Withee singled to extend her hitting streak to eight games and her reached-base streak to 15 straight contests. Julia Hollingsworth doubled and the Hurricane got RBIs from Maddie Withee, Tori Stafford and Rylie Spell.

Watson, who struck out 17 Cowgirls in the April 5 matchup in Stillwater, retired the side in order on strikes to start the game. In the bottom of the frame, the Tulsa offense would start quickly and tally all the runs it would need to back its ace.

Hollingsworth opened the home half of the inning with a double to the gap in left-center field before Maggie Withee walked. Following a sacrifice bunt from Morgan Neal, Maddie Withee plated the game's first run with a sacrifice fly to center field.

Stafford delivered an RBI single up the middle to double the lead to 2-0 and, two batters later, Spell pushed the advantage to 3-0 with a hit to left field.

The Cowgirls (29-17) got their first hit in the top of the second and had their best scoring opportunity with two on and one out in the inning. However, Watson got out of the threat with a pop-up and a strikeout to keep the visitors scoreless.

Maggie Withee singled in the bottom of the panel to extend her hitting streak, but Tulsa could not add to its lead.

Following a two-out single by Oklahoma State in the third, Watson retired the next 11 batters that she faced to hold the 3-0 cushion. The string was broken with one out in the top of the seventh, when Madi Sue Montgomery dropped a single to right field. Watson then recorded her final strikeout of the game and induced a pop-up in foul territory to end the game.

Watson did not allow a runner to advance past second base in the contest as she cruised to her 21st victory of the season.

The Hurricane will return to American Athletic Conference play, April 21-23, with a three-game series at UConn (14-23, 1-7 AAC). The series will open with a 3 p.m. (CT) matchup on Friday.
