STORRS, Conn. - The University of Tulsa Softball team picked up their third American Athletic Conference series sweep on Sunday morning with an 8-0 win over UConn in five innings at Burrill Family Field. The Hurricane (33-13 Overall, 11-1 The American) had seven different players record a base hit while four drove in at least a run in the win as they won their seventh straight contest overall and seventh straight in league play.

Rylie Spell drove in a team-high four runs on a one for two showing at the plate, picking up her first RBI in the second inning to open the scoring. Maddie Withee's first of two hits opened the inning before the senior moved over to third base on a Haley Meinen sacrifice bunt to set up Spell's RBI that put TU up 1-0.

Julia Hollingsworth homered for the second time in the series and third in the last six games with no outs in the third inning to start the scoring for Tulsa in the frame on a two-run shot to right field that scored Shelby Estocado.

Maggie Withee followed with a double down the left field line that extended her hitting streak to a team-best 11 games and reached base streak to 18 straight games. Maddie Withee doubled for her second hit of the morning before Spell picked up RBI number two on a sacrifice fly to center field to bring in Maggie Withee and give the Hurricane a 5-0 advantage.

Another sacrifice fly, this one from Morgan Neal, gave Tulsa another run in the fourth inning to score Estocado after a leadoff single.

Tulsa secured the five-inning win by plating two on a home run to right-center field by Spell to go ahead 8-0 on her second home run in as many games. The sophomore catcher finished the three-game series with seven RBI and a 1.429 slugging-percentage.

Emily Watson earned the win in the circle while holding the Huskies to just one hit that came on a bunt single in the third inning as she moved to 23-3 on the year. The junior continued her move up the Tulsa career record list, this time picking up her 43rd career win that moved her into a tie for seventh-most all-time with former teammate Caitlin Sill (2013-16) while tying Jackie Lawrence (2007-10) for fourth-most career shutouts. Watson struck out seven batters while allowing just two base runners in the game as her season ERA dropped to 1.08.

Tulsa saw three UConn pitchers in the contest, posting six earned runs as Jill Stockley was credited with the loss after 2.1 innings pitched.

The Hurricane will remain on the road next weekend as they travel to Greenville, N.C. to take on East Carolina for their final three-game conference road series of the season beginning on Friday at 5 p.m.
