The University of Tulsa completed spring practice on Saturday afternoon with the Annual Spring Game in which both the offense and defense put together solid performances in a 138-play scrimmage.

Three Tulsa quarterbacks combined to complete 32-of-51 passes for 247 yards and three touchdowns, while the Hurricane run game totaled 316 yards on 87 carries with 4 TDs. Red-shirt freshman Luke Skipper completed 16 passes for 173 yards and two TDs, while sophomore Chad President completed 12 passes for 64 yards and sophomore Will Hefley completed four passes for 110 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown to sophomore David Snelling.

The offense had four running backs total over 60 yards rushing, with sophomore Corey Taylor gaining a team-high 14 carries for 75 yards and one TD. Sophomore Javon Thomas had 12 carries for 74 yards and one TD, junior Ramadi Warren 11 carries for 69 yards and one TD and senior D'Angelo Brewer totaled 62 yards on 13 carries.

Defensively, Jesse Brubaker was a force on the outside for the first-team defense with three sacks totaling 19 yards. Sophomore Manny Bunch had a team-high 10.5 tackles from his safety position, while sophomore linebacker Robert Revels III had the lone interception.
The first-team offense took the first possession 75 yards for a touchdown, as Taylor's two-yard run capped the drive. Sophomore linebacker Cooper Edmiston forced a fumble that was returned 38 yards by senior Kerwin Thomas.

"I thought we were consistent at times, but not at the level we need to be. I thought our first defense really played well, especially early and were really aggressive in the way they were playing," said Montgomery.

"Offensively, the first group established some things running the ball. It was a pretty difficult to throw the ball the way the wind was today, but I thought we executed at times in those situations," Montgomery added. "Overall I was pleased. I thought our effort was good and we got out healthy."

President led the first-team offense on a 75-yard drive in 14 plays to open the game as Taylor punched the ball over the goal line from two yards out.

On the third possession, the first-team offense again moved 74 yards as Skipper threw the final 16 yards to Justin Hobbs for the touchdown. Warren's 13-yard TD run capped the first-team offense's third score of the day, capping a 59-yard, nine-play drive with President at the controls

The first-team defense went 4-and-out on its first possession and followed that with back-to-back 3-and-outs.

After a 49-yard Redford Jones field goal, Javon Thomas ran 23 yards for the offense's fourth TD of the game to cap an 84-yard, 12-play drive engineered by Skipper. Rowdy Simons's eight-yard run capped an 84-yard, 17-play drive with President at the helm.

A Skipper 59-yard pass to Bishop Louie capped a two-play 80-yard drive and Hefley's 80-yard pass to David Snelling, capping a three-play, 81-yard drive, ended the scoring for the Tulsa offense.

Montgomery talked about the quarterback position following the game.

"We're not going to name a starter until we get into fall camp and it will probably be several weeks into fall camp," said Montgomery. "We'll see how those guys continue to battle with each other. The competition has been really good. They're stepping up, they're learning a lot, and until we get them under the lights you never know."

A special ticket deal only for Saturday's Spring Game offered a new season ticket holder the opportunity to purchase one season ticket, and have Coach Montgomery buy your second one. At the end of the day, a total of 514 new season tickets were sold.
