Track and Field Set for The American Outdoor Championships

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa Track and Field team is set for The American Outdoor Championships that will be held on May 12-14 at the Tom Tellez Track at the Carl Lewis International Complex in Houston, Texas.
The men's team enters the week with top times in the 1,500-meter run, 5,000-meter run and 10,000-meter run as Tulsa will look to improve upon their third-place finish back at the indoor conference meet on February 24-25.
Marc Scott was named the Most Outstanding Performer at that meet and enters the outdoor competition with the top times in The American in the 5,000-meter with a run of 13:36.45 at the Mt. SAC Relays while holding the top time in the 10,000-meter. Scott will not participate in the latter, but will run in the 1,500-meter on Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. in an event that he won back at The American Indoor Championships.
Mark Middleton and Ellis Coon will join Scott in the 1,500-meter event, holding the top two times in the conference this season as both ran their fastest times at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
The Hurricane distance crew will be in full force in the 5,000-meter on Sunday as 13 Hurricane are scheduled for the event.
Grey Howard will run in the 800-meter on Friday at 6:50 p.m. in an event that he holds the third-fastest conference time in with a mark of 1:50.96.
Aaliyah Birmingham will vie for a top-three finish in the 100-meter dash on Saturday with the prelims scheduled for 7:45 p.m. The freshman holds the fifth-fastest time in the conference this outdoor season with a mark of 11.49, just 0.04 seconds away from breaking into the top-three in the event.
Adrena Mazzei will run in the 1,500-meter on Saturday at 6:10 p.m. and holds the fourth-fastest time in The American with a finish of 4:28.63 at the Arkansas Spring Invitational on March 25.
The women's team hold top-five times in three events as Nicole Lee ranks third in the 10,000-meter while Kiara Jones holds the fourth-fastest mark in the 400-meter hurdles with Stacie Taylor running the fifth-fastest time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
