Tulsa's seven-time All-American Marc Scott was the only collegian in a star-studded 10,000-meter international field at the prestigious 2017 Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford, California.
In a field of 35 runners, Scott set a school record and personal-best when he clocked a time of 28:07.97 for 12th place in the 10,000m, but more importantly his time hit the qualifying standard for the Commonwealth Games.
Tulsa athletes also took six top-2 finishes at the Arkansas Twilight Meet, as first-place performances were turned in by sophomore Cecilya Johnson with a throw of 45.58m in the discus and a men's 800-meter time of 1:50.96 by junior Grey Howard.
The Hurricane women also had four second-place finishes. A pair of freshmen Adrena Mazzei and Caitlin Klopfer each had their second-best times of the outdoor season in their respective races. Mazzei clocked a time of 4:28.72 in the 1,500m, while Klopfer finished the 3000m with a time of 10:03.74. Johnson had a second-place throw of 47.53m in the hammer throw, while junior Kiara Jones finished the 400-mter hurdles in a time of 1:00.45.
