
Men’s Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Award

TEMPE, Ariz. — The University of Tulsa men's tennis squad was recognized on Tuesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as an All-Academic Team after it posted a 3.311 GPA during the 2016-17 season. To be eligible for the award, teams must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
In addition, Dominic Bechard, Chase Gordon, Mitchell Pritchard and Daniel Santos were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes. It marked the third-straight ITA Scholar-Athlete award for Gordon and Santos, while Bechard and Pritchard were each honored for the second time.
Student-athletes must be a varsity letterwinner, have a GPA of at least 3.50 on a 4.0 scale for the current academic year and be enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters to be eligible for the honor.
Santos led the team with 14 singles victories last season, while Bechard added 11 wins. During doubles action, Santos teamed up with Jarod Hing for 10 wins and Bechard was part of 12 triumphs.
