
Marc Scott to Compete at IAAF World Championships

TULSA, Okla. — Marc Scott, Tulsa's second national champion and a nine-time All-American, was selected to compete for his native Great Britain at the 2017 IAAF World Championships, which will take place Aug. 4-13 at Olympic Stadium in London.
Scott, who won the 10,000-meter crown and finished fourth in the 5,000-meters at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in June, will run the 5,000-meters. He will join Olympic gold medalist Mo Farah and Olympian Andrew Butchart to represent Great Britain in the event. The North Yorkshire, England, native earned his spot on the British squad with a qualifying time of 13:22.37 at a recent event in Belgium.
The first 5,000-meter races are scheduled for Aug. 9, while the finals will be held on Aug. 12.
Scott will be joined at the championships by Chris O'Hare, another former Hurricane and NCAA Champion.
O'Hare, who became Tulsa's first national champion by winning the mile race at the 2012 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships, will run the 1,500-meters. A native of West Linton, Scotland, O'Hare was a six-time All-American at Tulsa (2009-13) and competed in the 1,500-meters at the 2016 Olympics.
Preliminary races for the 1,500-meters begin on Aug. 4 and the final is set to be run on Aug. 7.
