Tulsa Rowing Adds Michelle Goodwin as Assistant Coach

The University of Tulsa rowing program named Michelle Goodwin as an assistant coach, as announced today by Head Rowing Coach Kevin Harris.
"I am very excited to have Michelle Goodwin join our staff," Harris said. "Michelle stood out among some very talented applicants as someone who would contribute a lot to our team and The University of Tulsa. As a rower from Tennessee and a coach at Grand Valley State, she has been mentored by two great coaches in Lisa Glenn and John Bancheri. Not to mention she is from New Jersey and Holy Spirit High School, which is always a plus for our New Jersey born rowers. She is going to be an outstanding addition to our staff and I am looking forward to getting to work with her."
A native of Ventnor City, N.J., Goodwin was an assistant coach for the men's and women's rowing club teams at Grand Valley State (Michigan) for two seasons (2015-17). She coached the men's and women's team at the 2016 Henley Royal Regatta, and assisted the Women's Varsity 8- to a third-place finish at the 2016 ARCRA, a first-place mark at the 2016 MACRA and a fifth-place finish at the 2016 Dad Vail Regatta. Goodwin was also responsible for coaching the Novice 8+ to a gold medal finish at the 2016 Eagle Collegiate Challenge and the Novice 4+ to a silver medal at the 2016 MACRA. For her efforts, she was named the 2016 American Collegiate Rowing Association Women's Assistant Coach of the Year.Goodwin rowed for four years at Tennessee, where she helped the Volunteers claim the 2012 Conference USA Championship. She also earned a silver medal in the Open 4+ at the 2013 C-USA Championship, and was a member of the Varsity 4+, 2nd Varsity 4+ and 2nd Varsity 8+ throughout her career.
Goodwin holds a US Rowing Level II coaching certification.
Goodwin earned her bachelor's degree in history and secondary education in 2014, and her master's degree in teacher education in 2015, all from Tennessee.
