Volleyball Plays First Matches in Oklahoma This Weekend

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa will finally play a match in the state of Oklahoma as they take part in the ORU Golden Eagle Classic on Sept. 15 and 16. The Golden Hurricane open the classic up with a matchup against crosstown rival Oral Roberts. ORU leads the overall series 57-21, but Tulsa has won the last six meetings, including a 3-1 victory last season. The Golden Eagles are coming off of two wins this past weekend. They defeated UCF, 3-1, and Southern, 3-0.
The Hurricane start day two with a match against Wyoming and it will be the first meeting between the two programs. The Cowgirls lost three matches over the weekend at the Pepperdine Asics Classic. Wyoming lost to Pepperdine, 3-0, Missouri State, 3-0, and No. 8 Washington, 3-0.
The Golden Hurricane round out the tournament with a matchup against Central Arkansas. Tulsa leads the overall series, 7-1, including a 3-1 victory last year. The Sugar Bears are coming off of a 2-1 weekend at the UCA Classic. UCA knocked off Arkansas State, 3-1, and Southern, 3-0, before falling to UCF, 3-1.
