TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa cross country teams are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 16, when they will travel to Joplin, Mo., for the Southern Stampede.

The TU women's squad will be up first on the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course with a 5K race at 8:30 a.m., while the No. 21-ranked men's team will run its 8K race at 9:45 a.m. Other programs in attendance for Saturday's race include Arkansas, Missouri State, Oral Roberts and Wichita State.

The men remained in the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll after garnering a No. 20 ranking in the preseason and held at No. 4 in the Midwest Region rankings. Meanwhile, the women's squad stayed at No. 10 in the Midwest Region poll, as well.

Both teams opened their fall seasons on Sept. 1 at the Cowboy Preview in Stillwater. Six runners competed in their first race for TU, including sophomore Bryan Corbaz and redshirt freshmen Jenny O'Bryan, Olivia Gallagher, Archer Bennett, Reed Sahadaven and Carter Bradford.

O'Bryan finished 10th in the women's 3K, just a tenth of a second behind junior Ashley Barnes, who was the top TU finisher at 10:57.8. Junior Ellis Coon paced the Golden Hurricane men's team in the 5K with a time of 16:10.3, which was good for 15th place.
