Tulsa Drops Two on Final Day of ORU Invitational

TULSA, Okla. – The Golden Hurricane closed out the ORU Invitational with matchups against Wyoming in match one and Central Arkansas to round out the invitational. Tulsa dropped the first match, 3-0, and wrapped up the invitational with a tough five set loss, 3-2.
Wyoming 3, Tulsa 0
Emily Hubbard led TU in the first set with five kills. Emily Thorson chipped in with four kills. Mariah Pardo notched five assists, while Lindsey Ledyard added four assists. Defensively, Taylor Horsfall collected nine digs. Wyoming took the first set, 25-20.
Thorson posted five kills in the second set and Ledyard assisted on five kills. Horsfall picked up seven digs. The Cowgirls took the second set, 25-21.
Ledyard led Tulsa with six assists in the third set. Pardo provided five assists. Thorson recorded three kills and Horsfall tallied three digs. Wyoming took the third set, 25-20.
For the match, Ledyard and Pardo paced TU with 15 and 14 assists, respectively. Thorson led the team with 12 kills. Horsfall paced the defense with 19 digs.
Emily Lewis had a match-high 15 kills for the Cowgirls. Halie McArdle and Madi Fields each had 10 digs.
Central Arkansas 3, Tulsa 2
Callie Cook paced Tulsa in the first set with three kills. Ledyard and Pardo each had four assists. Horsfall picked up two digs. The Sugar Bears took the first set, 25-19.
The Golden Hurricane took the second set, 25-17, behind five kills by Thorson and Hubbard each. Ledyard earned eight assists. Thorson led the defense with four digs.
Hubbard led the Hurricane with three kills in the third set. Ledyard registered six assists. Hubbard and Horsfall each had two digs. Central Arkansas took the third set, 25-14.
TU came up big and took the fourth set, 25-22, to force a fifth and final set. Thorson notched six kills and four digs. Ledyard assisted on six kills. Hubbard and Thorson collected four digs each.
Maggie Hembree led TU in the fifth set with three kills. Horsfall provided three digs defensively for the Hurricane. The Sugar Bears took the final set, 15-11.
Central Arkansas was led by Samantha Anderson with 17 kills. Abbie Harry, Megan Nash and Haley Tippett all finished in double-digit kills. Elizabeth Armstrong had a match-high 58 assists. Emily Doss had a match-high 16 digs.
For the Golden Hurricane, Thorson led the team with 16 kills. Hubbard and Hembree finished in double-digits with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Ledyard produced 27 assists and Pardo chipped in with 20 assists. Horsfall tallied 12 digs, while Hubbard added 10 digs. Hubbard earned her fourth double-double of the season and her career.
Tulsa fell to 6-6 on the season. The Golden Hurricane return to action on Friday, Sept. 22, as they host Houston in The American Athletic Conference opener. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
