The Tulsa women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Houston on Friday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.  TU fell to 2-7-2 on the season and 0-1 in American Athletic Conference play, while UH moved to 5-3-1 overall and 1-0 in the league.

"After going down 2-0 we played like we had nothing to lose," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said.  "I felt like at that point the girls did a good job of rebounding, we got the goal and we started creating chances, but we can't wait until we go down 2-0 for a sense of urgency.  If we play like we did in the last 15-20 minutes with a nothing-to-lose mentality, we will give SMU a game on Sunday."

Selena Peters scored on a combination from Hannah Dauzat and Madison Soileau with just 6:07 ticked off the clock, a lead the Cougars would hold onto for the remainder of the half.

Kaitlyn Wild made it 2-0 for UH as she punched in a goal from one yard out off a cross from Jazmin Grant in the 61st minute.  Nearly 17 minutes later, Danielle Hoover scored her second goal in as many games as she headed in a rebound attempt taken by Rachel Thun-Blankenship with 77:21 on the clock, but Peters scored again for Houston in the 82nd minute for the final 3-1 score.

The Cougars had a 19-14 lead in shots, including a 10-6 lead in shots on goal, while both teams had four corner kicks.

Thun-Blankenship had a team-leading five shots, while McKenzi McAdams added three attempts and Reagan Whitlow had two.  Courtney McKeon logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up seven saves.

Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 24 against SMU.  Game time is set for 1:00 pm at the Hurricane Stadium.
