With just 10-seconds off the clock in the first overtime period, Christina Holmes scored the game-winning goal to give the Tulsa women's soccer team a 3-2 win against SMU on Sunday afternoon at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.  TU moved to 3-7-2 on the season and 1-1 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Mustangs fell to 4-3-3 overall and 0-1-1 in the league.

"We challenged our kids yesterday to attack and play with reckless abandon, with heart and intensity and we did that," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said.  "We were getting our chances and we felt good at halftime, but then SMU came out and scored two quick goals against us.  I am so proud of our individual effort because we got a good goal back and then an Own Goal evened the score and it was game-on.  It was a true team effort today."

Allie Thornton put SMU on the board with 49:29 ticked off the clock and just over a minute later Hannah Fleet gave the Mustangs a two-goal cushion that they maintained for nearly 20 minutes off the clock.

Rachel Thun-Blankenship got one back for TU as she punched one into the back of the net off a pass from Averee Dubach in the 71st minute, and then a redirected shot taken by Tana Dake and the Mustangs knocked the ball into the back of their own net for an Own Goal in the 86th minute to tie the score at 2-2.

In overtime, Thun-Blankenship dribbled the ball to the 18-yard box, passed off the ball to Holmes who drilled the ball into the back of the net with just 10-seconds off the clock for the Golden Goal.

Thun-Blankenship and McKenzi McAdams both had three shots, while Ashlyn Heckman, Alyssa Kaiser and Valiree Morris each added two attempts.  Courtney McKeon logged all 90:10 in goal and picked up 11 saves.

SMU had a 20-16 lead in shots, including a 14-11 advantage in shots on goal, while both teams had four corner kicks.

Tulsa will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 28 against UCF.  Game time is set for 6:00 pm in Orlando, Fla.
