THE STORYLINES . . .
•      Tulsa is in its 118th season of football this year.
•      Tulsa and Louisiana have played nine times before, but have not met since the 1992 season.
•      Both teams are coming off of bowl seasons in 2016, Louisiana losing in the R+L Carrier New Orleans Bowl and Tulsa winning in the Miami Beach Bowl.
•      Tulsa has the smallest FBS enrollment with 3,406 students, while Louisiana has an enrollment of 19,188.

•      Tulsa has an overall 25-16 record for a .609 winning percentage against teams in Louisiana, with games against Centenary (2-1-1), Louisiana (4-5), UL-Monroe (3-1), Louisiana Tech (3-7), Nicholls State (1-0), Northwestern Louisiana (1-0) and Tulane (11-2).

THE TULSA-LOUISIANA SERIES . . .
•      This is the 10th meeting between Tulsa and Louisiana.
•      Louisiana leads the series 5-4, but Tulsa has won the last two games – 34-20 in 1991 on the road in Lafayette, and 27-9 in 1992 at Tulsa.
•      Louisiana, known as Southwestern Louisiana, won the first game in the series at home by a score of 48-21 in 1977.
•      Louisiana won four games in a row –– 1984, 1986, 1989 and 1990 – by an average of 6.3 points.
•      Tulsa has won its four games by an 11.8 margin, with its largest win of 18 points in the last meeting in 1992.

QUICK HITS . . .
•      Reserve RB Corey Taylor II, who gained only 4 yards on 5 carries as a true freshman in 2016, had 111 yards for a 5.6 average in the opener at Oklahoma State.
•      Nine freshmen saw playing time at #10 Oklahoma State, including 4 true freshmen and 5 red-shirt freshmen.
•      Four players made their first career start in the opener – QB Chad President, WR Josh Stewart, DT Shemarr Robinson and DB Manny Bunch.

TULSA IN HOME OPENERS . . .
•      Tulsa has a 63-24 record for a .724 win percentage in home openers at Skelly Field since it was built in 1930 (no matter if it was the season opener or not).
•      Before that, Tulsa was 15-6 at other home sites for an overall 78-30 record.
•      Tulsa is 18-9 in home openers since the 1990 season, and 12-5 since 2000.

OFFENSIVELY IN THE MONTGOMERY ERA . . .
•      In 27 games under Philip Montgomery, Tulsa has scored over 40 points 17times and has posted a 14-3 record when doing so.
•      Tulsa came into the 2017 season averaging 39.8 points over the previous two years, including 37.2 points in 2015 and 42.5 points in 2016.
•      Tulsa has gone over 500 yards of total offense in 17 games under Montgomery.
•      The Golden Hurricane has gone over 600 yards six times under Montgomery.
•      Tulsa has had eight 300+ yard rushing games in the Montgomery era, with all eight coming in 2016.
•      In Montgomery's first two seasons, Tulsa had 91 offensive scoring drives out of 164 possessions in regulation under two minutes, including 31 under one minute … that's 55.5 percent of the time that Tulsa's offensive scoring drives have taken under two minutes.
•      Tulsa has five 50+ scoring games in the last 15 games under Montgomery, dating back to the 2015 Camping World Independence Bowl when Tulsa scored 52 points.
•      The Hurricane had four 50+ scoring games in 2016, the most since four 50+ scoring games in the 2010 season and before that 6 50+ games in 2008 . . .

PRESIDENT GETS START IN THE OPENER . . .
•      Entering the season opener, the starting quarterback for the Hurricane was unknown until Tulsa's first possession when third-year sophomore Chad President took the field.
•      However, coach Montgomery indicated earlier in the week that both quarterbacks would see playing time.
•      President led the Hurricane on their first two possessions, gaining only 32 yards on 14 plays.
•      Red-shirt freshman Luke Skipper quarterbacked the 3rd and 4th Tulsa possessions, gaining 35 yards on 9 plays.
•      President returned for Tulsa's fifth drive and guided the Tulsa offense for the remainder of the game.
•      On that possession, President led the Hurricane on a 13-play, 75-yard scoring drive as Corey Taylor ran in for the final three yards.
•      President ended the game completing 18-of-35 passes for 178 yards, and ran for another 69 yards on eight carries.

A 100-YARD RUSHER NOT NAMED D'ANGELO . . .
•      Although Tulsa returns 2,000+ career rusher D'Angelo Brewer to the backfield, the Hurricane also possesses depth at the position.
•      Brewer has nine career 100+ rushing games, but it was one of his running-mates who reached that 100-yard plateau in the season opener.
•      In the opener at Oklahoma State, Tulsa sophomore Corey Taylor, from Tulsa's Holland Hall High School, turned in his first career 100-yard rushing game with 111 yards and 2 TDs on 20 carries
•      A year ago, Taylor carried only 5 times for 4 yards in six games.
