Tulsa Posts Perfect 11-0 Record on Day 2 of Hurricane Invite

Day 2 Results

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa women's tennis was perfect for the second straight day at the Hurricane Invite at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Saturday. Not only did the women win all 11 matches they played in, they also did not lose a set.

Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg found herself in a unique situation as she teamed up with Wyoming's Myiah Scott in a flight 3 doubles matchup against Easton Parker and Betka Gombarova from Northeastern State. Van Rensburg and Scott battled Parker and Gombarova to a 7-5 victory.

Also in a flight 3 doubles match, Tamara Kupkova and Shura Poppe faced off with a Louisiana Tech pair of Paulina Cota and Nadja Manjon. Kupkova and Poppe surrendered just one game on their way to a 6-1 victory.

Martina Okalova and Vera Ploner matched up against La. Tech's Sonia Chen and Karla De La Luz Montalvo. The Hurricane tandem defeated the La. Tech pair, 6-3, after they picked up an early service break.

In a flight 1 doubles match, Ksenia Laskutova and Martha Matoula posted a 6-3 victory against Claudia Oracova and Andrea Perez-Lopez of La. Tech.

In singles action, Laskutova went up against Manjon, in a flight 1 singles match. Laskutova went ahead 3-2, before she broke Manjon's serve to take a 4-2 lead, in the first set. Laskutova took the opening stanza, 6-2. Laskutova jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the second set, before she extended her lead to win the set, 6-2.

???????Matoula and Chen squared off in a flight 2 singles match. Matoula won the first set 6-1, after she broke Chen's serve twice.  Matoula won the second set, 6-3, and the match.

Van Rensburg took on Mayra Jovic of NSU in a flight 3 singles match. Jovic held a slight advantage, 2-3, but Van Rensburg battled back and took a 4-3 lead. Van Rensburg went on to win the first set, 6-3. In the second set, Van Rensburg jumped out to a commanding 5-0 lead, before Jovic won a game. Van Rensburg took the second set, 6-1.

In another flight 3 singles match, Kupkova took on Oravcova. Kupkova breezed through the first set and broke Oravcova's serve three times for a 6-0 victory. In the second set, Oravcova managed to win two games, but Kupkova won the set, 6-2.

In the first set of a flight 4 singles match, Ploner found herself behind De La Luz Montalvo, 3-4. Ploner was resilient as she came from behind and won the opening frame, 6-4. In the second set, Ploner distanced herself from De La Luz Montalvo, as she won the set, 6-2.

???????Poppe and Perez-Lopez squared off in a flight 5 singles match. Poppe raced out to an early 4-1 lead, before she took the opening set, 6-3. Poppe was dominant in the second set, as she won it 6-1.

In a flight 6 singles match, Alexandrina Chinikova faced off with Cota. Chinikova took the first set with ease, 6-0. Chinikova won the second set by a closer score of 6-3.

Tulsa returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 23, for a dual match in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Golden Hurricane takes on the Arkansas Razorbacks, with first serves scheduled for 1 p.m.
