FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Ksenia Laskutova collected a huge victory at the No. 1 singles position against the No. 67 ranked singles player by the ITA, Leolia Jeanjean, 1-6, 6-2, and 6-3. The Golden Hurricane suffered its first defeat of the season against the No. 18 Razorbacks, 4-3, on Tuesday at the Billingsley Tennis Center.

Tamara Kupkova and Shura Poppe defeated Arkansas' Natsuho Arakawa and Tatum Rice, 6-2, at the No. 3 doubles position.

At the No. 1 position, the No. 25 ranked doubles pair of Giulia Pairone and Leolia Jeanjean beat the Tulsa duo of Laskutova and Martha Matoula, 6-3. In the No. 2 doubles position, the No. 57 ranked tandem, Mia Jurasic and Ana Oparenovic knocked off Martina Okalova and Vera Ploner, 7-5. The Razorbacks earned the doubles point and led 1-0, as the match went to singles action.

Okalova ranked No. 122 matched up with Oparenovic in the No. 2 singles match. Okalova took the opening stanza, 6-1. Okalova used the momentum from the first and won the second set, 6-2, to tie the overall match at 1-1.

Arkansas regained the match lead, 2-1, as Pairone defeated Kupkova in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-2, in the No. 4 singles match.

Ploner won the first set of the No. 5 singles match against Arakawa, 6-3. Arakawa bounced back and took the final two sets, 6-4 and 6-1, to earn the match win. Arakawa's victory increased the Razorbacks' lead to 3-1.

At the No. 1 singles position, Laskutova squared off against the No. 67 ranked player Jeanjean. Jeanjean won the first set, 6-1. Laskutova was resilient and stormed back to win the second set, 6-2. Laskutova capitalized on the momentum of the second set and won the third set, 6-3. Laskutova's victory cut the Arkansas match lead to 3-2.

Alexandrina Chinikova had a matchup with Rice at the No. 6 singles position. Rice took the first frame, 6-4, but Chinikova battled back and won the second set, 6-3. Rice answered and won the third set, 6-2. Rice's win clinched the match for Arkansas.

Matuola picked up the first set win in her match against Jurasic, 7-5, at the No. 3 singles position. Jurasic responded as she took the second set, 6-3, to force a third and final set. With the match outcome already decided, Matoula fought to win the third set, 10-7, to make the final match score, 4-3, in favor of the Razorbacks.

With the loss, Tulsa falls to 4-1 on the season. The Golden Hurricane returns to action on Jan. 27, at the ITA Kick-Off in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Hurricane will face Brown and first serves are scheduled for 2 p.m.
