LAKE CHARLES, La. – Sarah Kosmata drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as No. 20/20 Tulsa closed play at the Cowgirl Classic with a 3-2 victory over Houston Baptist on Sunday morning.

Morgan Neal went 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in a run, while freshman Samantha Pochop earned her first collegiate victory after she came on in relief and yielded just an unearned run in 4.2 innings for the Golden Hurricane (2-2).

The Huskies (0-2) struck first in the top of the third with an unearned run off Tulsa starter Erin Harris, who made her collegiate debut. Houston Baptist also got an unearned run against Pochop in the fourth, but TU responded with runs in the fourth and fifth to tie the score at 2-2.

Kosmata got the Hurricane started in the fourth with a pinch-hit single to left before Shelby Estocado also reached with a hit to left field. After a walk to Rylie Spell loaded the bases, freshman Jesse Smith pushed across a run with a grounder to slice the deficit in half.

An inning later, Tulsa again got the leadoff batter on when Julia Hollingsworth walked and advanced to scoring position on a grounder. Neal then tied the score with a single to right field, and the game remained deadlocked going into the bottom of the seventh.

Like she did in the fifth, Hollingsworth opened the bottom of the final frame with a walk, her seventh free pass in four games during the weekend. Neal singled and moved to second when the throw went to third in an unsuccessful attempt to nab the speedy Hollingsworth. Kosmata then ended the game with a fielder's choice, as Hollingsworth used her speed again to beat a throw home.

Tulsa will return to the diamond for five more games next weekend, when it will travel to College Station, Texas, for the Texas A&M Invitational. The Hurricane will face Iowa, Butler and host Texas A&M, Feb. 16-18 at the Aggie Softball Complex.
