Tulsa Tennis Falls 4-0 to Alabama

TULSA, Okla. –– The Tulsa men's tennis team fell 4-0 to the Alabama Crimson Tide on Sunday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Alabama claimed the doubles point and won singles points at the No. 1, 3 and 4 positions to move to 9-0 on the season, while the Golden Hurricane fell to 3-6 on the season.
Alabama took the 1-0 lead in the match, but it wasn't without a battle by the Hurricane for the doubles point. Tulsa lost at the No. 2 position in doubles, but evened the doubles score when Louis Corker and Mitchell Pritchard claimed a 6-4 win at the No. 3 slot.
At the No. 1 doubles position, Tulsa's Joshua Goodger and Jarod Hing took a 3-1 lead, but the Crimson Tide team of Edson Ortiz and Mazen Osama took the next three games for a 4-3 lead. The match was tied again at 4 and 5, before Alabama's tandem took the last two games for a 7-5 win.
In singles, Patrick Kaukovalta claimed a 6-4, 6-1 win over Jarod Hing at the No. 3 position for a 2-0 Alabama lead. The Crimson Tide went up 3-0 when the No. 4 position was decided by a 6-2, 6-0 win by Edson Ortiz over Tulsa freshman Lucca Baptista.
Fellow Hurricane freshman Joshua Goodger dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to Mazen Osama at the No. 1 singles position, thus clinching the Alabama victory.
Tulsa will be back in action at the Case Tennis Center on Friday, February 9, to face the nation's 18th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners. Match time is set for 6:00 p.m.
