TULSA, Okla. –– University of Tulsa head football coach Philip Montgomery announced today the appointment of Jordan Najvar (Ni-ver) as a full-time assistant coach, prompted by the NCAA's new rule allowing for a 10th assistant coach.

Najvar has spent the past two seasons as Tulsa's offensive quality control coach. He will coach tight ends for the Golden Hurricane.

"Jordan has been our offensive quality control coach that last two years so he's very familiar with our players and staff.," said Montgomery. "Jordan is a guy that I coached, he's been in our system, knows our terminology and knows what we're doing offensively. He has been a great asset for us the last two seasons."

"With the addition of the 10th assistant position, it allows me to even out our staff where we have five coaches on offense and five on defense. With Jordan's experience in what we do offensively, and him having played the position of tight end will only make us better," added Montgomery.

"From a recruiting standpoint, having Jordan on the road will be such a great addition to our success as we continue to keep building our program and roster," said Montgomery. "Having another set of eyes and feet on the ground in the recruiting process is a tremendous asset as we continue to look for new talent and expand our recruiting blueprint."

Najvar came to Tulsa after playing professionally for two seasons. He was an undrafted free agent signee in 2014 with the Dallas Cowboys, where he spent one year. He spent part of the 2015 season with the Brooklyn Bolts of the FXFL Developmental League.

Najvar was a three-year starting tight end at the University of Baylor (2011-13), playing under then-offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery. He was a three-time all-Big 12 honorable mention selection with the Bears. Najvar transferred to Baylor in 2010 from Stanford University, where he spent a red-shirt season in 2009.

At Baylor, Navjar played in 38 games and totaled 35 receptions for 311 yards and four touchdowns. Najvar played his prep football at Klein Oak High School in Spring, Texas, where he was ranked as the nation's 12th-best tight end coming out of high school.

Najvar earned his degree from Baylor in distribution management technology in May 2013. His wife's name is Holly.
