TULSA, Okla. – The Golden Hurricane men's tennis team faced the No. 19 Oklahoma Sooners Friday night at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Majed Kilani collected his fifth dual match victory of the season, but Tulsa (3-7) fell to Oklahoma (7-1).

In doubles action, James Davis and Alex Bakshi defeated Louis Corker and Mitchell Pritchard in the No. 3 doubles match, 6-2.

Tulsa picked up a doubles match victory at the No. 2 position, when Lucca Baptista and Majed Kilani knocked off Jochen Bertsch and Adrian Oetzbach, 7-5.

The deciding point came down to the final doubles match, at the No. 1 position. Joshua Goodger and Jarod Hing faced Jake van Emburgh and Ferran Calvo. The two teams needed a tiebreaker to decide the match. Calvo and van Emburgh won the tiebreaker, 7-5, and took the doubles match, 7-6. The Sooners held a 1-0 lead after doubles play.

Baptista faced van Emburgh at the No. 4 singles position. Van Emburgh took the opening set, 6-2, before he took the second set, 6-3. Oklahoma took a 2-0 lead with van Emburgh's win.

The No. 27 ranked Calvo took on Hing in the No. 3 singles match. Calvo won the opening set, 6-4, and won the match with a 6-2 second set victory.

Bertsch defeated Corker in two sets, 6-4 and 6-3, in the No. 5 singles match. Bertsch clinched the match for the Sooners and extended their lead to 4-0.

No. 66 Goodger won the first frame against Alex Bakshi, 7-5, in the No. 1 singles match. Bakshi won the second set, 6-4, and forced a third set. Since the match was already clinched, the two would play a tiebreaker, which Bakshi won 10-8.

At the No. 6 position, Max Stewart swept Pritchard in two sets, 6-3 and 6-4. This made the match score 6-0 in favor of Oklahoma.
Oetzbach took the opening stanza against No. 108 Kilani, 7-6 (9-7), in the No. 2 singles match. Kilani was resilient as he won the second set, 6-0. The two would play in a tiebreaker to determine the winner of the match. Kilani fell behind early, but stormed back to win the tiebreaker, 10-6. Kilani's victory stopped the Sooner's sweep, but TU fell 6-1.

The Hurricane falls to 3-7 on the season. The Golden Hurricane looks to rebound as it takes on Arkansas Pine Bluff and Oral Roberts, on Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Case Tennis Center. First serves against Pine Bluff are scheduled for 1 p.m, while the match against ORU is scheduled for 6 p.m.
