KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The University of Tulsa's Junior Etou was named second-team All-District 25 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), it was announced on Tuesday.
Etou, who also earned second-team American Athletic Conference honors, led Tulsa in scoring (15.0 ppg) and rebounding (7.9 rpg) for the second consecutive season and he finished the regular-season as the only player in The American to rank in the league's top five for both categories. The Republic of Congo native scored in double-figures 27 times with seven games of at least 20 points to help TU finish fourth in the conference, outperforming its preseason prediction (8th) for the fourth consecutive season.
Twice named The American Player of the Week (Jan. 2 and Feb. 5), Etou produced nine double-doubles during the campaign, a league-leading seven of which came during conference action. His 8.6 rebounds per game during conference play led the league.
Etou scored a season-high 30 points in Tulsa's Mayor's Cup win over Oral Roberts (Nov. 13) and he pulled down a career-best 15 rebounds against Temple (Jan. 17) and SMU (Feb. 1).
