TULSA, Okla. – Freshman Samantha Pochop allowed just one run and Tulsa scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to rally past USF, 3-1, in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Collins Family Softball Complex.

Pochop struck out six and improved to 8-6 on the campaign as the Golden Hurricane moved to 26-17 overall and 6-6 in American Athletic Conference play. Haley Meinen delivered the go-ahead hit with a two-RBI single in the sixth, while Julia Hollingsworth aided the offense with a pair of hits, including her fourth triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Amber Atkinson drove in the lone run for the Bulls (31-16, 9-3), while Cheyenne Eggens gave up just two hits in 4.2 scoreless innings.

USF grabbed the upper-hand in the top of the first with two two-out hits for a 1-0 lead. Macy Cook doubled and then touched home on Atkinson's single to left field for the early advantage.

Hollingsworth started the TU half of the frame with a bunt single, but Eggens would go on to retire the next 14 Hurricane batters that she faced. Pochop matched Eggens' effort in the circle as she did not allow more than one baserunner in an inning the rest of the day.

Pochop held the Bulls to just their 1-0 lead and USF replaced Eggens in the fifth after Shannon Hughes' infield single. Reliever Georgina Corrick closed out the fifth, but ran into trouble from the TU bats in the bottom of the sixth.

Hollingsworth started the rally with a one-out triple to center field. It was her team-leading fourth triple of the campaign and the seventh of her career, which moved her into a tie for fifth-place on the school's all-time charts.

Shelby Estocado then walked and stole second before the Bulls intentionally walked Morgan Neal to set up a force out at any base. However, Meinen made sure the strategy backfired with a single to left field that brought home two runs and gave the home squad a 2-1 lead. Rylie Spell followed with a sacrifice fly to deep center that scored Neal for an insurance run and a 3-1 cushion.

Pitching with the lead for the first time all day, Pochop made quick work of USF in the top of the seventh. The freshman got a pair of fly outs before a strikeout ended the contest in TU's favor, 3-1.

The Hurricane will return to Collins Family Softball Complex for a 6 p.m. matchup against No. 2 Oklahoma (38-2) on Tuesday, April 17. The contest is sold out.
