
Tulsa’s Varsity 8+ Repeats as The American Boat of the Week

Tulsa's Varsity 8+ repeated as the American Athletic Conference Boat of the Week on Monday following a standout performance amongst top competition at the elite Clemson Invitational over the weekend.
The Golden Hurricane crew, consisting of Sam Barber, Helen Leigh, Ellie Russell, Lucy Coleman, Veronique Ulrich, Lauren Vander Hoeven, Paige Hallam, Sophia Camara and Hannah Vissers collected a third-place finish in the Varsity 8+ Final B on Saturday afternoon, racing a time of 6:21.85 for the 2,000-meter course on Lake Hartwell. In the final, Tulsa finished ahead of three teams receiving votes in the latest CRCA/US Rowing Coaches poll in Louisville, UCLA and Minnesota. The strong finish capped a pair of fifth-place flight positions on Friday and Saturday morning, with Tulsa defeating the likes of No. 20 Oklahoma in its second race.
The Golden Hurricane will conclude its spring regular season this coming weekend at home, hosting the Lawless Cup in Catoosa, Okla. The 2018 American Athletic Conference Rowing Championship is slated for Saturday, May 12 at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, N.J.
