Tulsa Men’s Tennis Signs Top International Junior Players to 2018 Recruiting Class

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa men's tennis program has added three players with numerous international accolades to its' 2018 signing class, it was announced today by director of tennis and head men's coach Vince Westbrook. The signees include Kody Pearson from Sydney, Australia, Daniel Siddall from London, England and Tom Thelwall-Jones from Wrexham, Wales.
Pearson has been the No. 1 player in his age group in Australia, Siddall represented Iceland at the 2015 Junior Olympics and Thelwall Jones was ranked No. 11 nationally in the Under-16 age group in Wales.
"We are very excited to add Kody, Daniel and Tom to our program," said Westbrook. "These are the type of student-athletes that we want representing our team. They fit in well with our system."
"Kody will be one of the top Australians entering college next season and we are thrilled to have him joining us," stated Westbrook. "Daniel is one of the top players coming from England and Tom is one of the top players from Wales. We are excited for their future at Tulsa." said Westbrook.
Pearson, a native of Sydney, Australia, and has reached as high as No. 1 in his age group at various stages of his junior career. Pearson was a member of the 2013 national junior team that finished fourth in the World Junior Championships in Prostejov, Czech Republic. In 2016, Pearson was the runner-up at the U18 Australian Nationals. He holds a career-high ranking of No. 1305 in singles and No. 1089 in doubles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). Reached a career-high ITF Junior ranking of 113 in the world.
Siddall, a native of London, England, represented Iceland at the Junior Olympics in 2015 in Tbilisi, Georgia. In March of this year he reached the finals of the Grade 1 British tour. His highest U18 national ranking is No. 13. Siddall won the U18 County Cup D1 for Surrey in 2016 and 2017.
Siddall and current TU tennis student-athlete, Joshua Goodger, played on the same team in 2017.
Tom Thelwall-Jones has been ranked as high as No. 11 nationally in the U16s in Great Britain and competed at the UK National Junior Championships since he was 9-years-old. Thelwall-Jones has represented Wales five times in U12s, U14s and U18s. In singles play, he reached the semifinals in the G5 ITF Juniors in Manama, Bahrain and Potchefstroom, South Africa. In the Pretoria, South Africa G5 he advanced to the quarterfinals. In doubles play, Thelwall-Jones reached the finals of the G4 events in South Africa, Malta, Bahrain, and Bournemouth. He reached the doubles semifinal in the Nottingham G4.
"Coach Marsland and I have put a lot of time into this recruiting class and we are very excited to see these new guys join the Hurricane family," said Coach Westbrook.
